Costa Mesa Neighborhood Safety and Preparedness Course
Neighborhood Safety and Preparedness Course offered to Costa Mesa
residents by Costa Mesa Citizen Corps/CERT (Community Emergency Response Team)
Volunteers is now also available to those who primarily speak Spanish.
The first hour-long session will provide information on neighborhood safety,
disaster preparation and safe response, including a helpful packet, only
available through this course. Participants will also learn how to set up Family
Radio Service radio communications, in order to obtain immediate information
about activities in their area and around the City after a disaster. In the
second, 4-hour session, “CPR for Family and Friends” training will be provided,
including a take-home manual, at no charge only as a part of this free course.
Spanish speaking callers to the (714) 754-4897 message center can leave their
name and phone number and a Spanish speaking volunteer will call them back the
next business day. There is an urgent need for bilingual volunteers to help move
this program into the Spanish-speaking community more quickly.

CERT Family WEEKEND - January 18, 19 & 20
We are going to try something new for January – A CERT
family-friendly class for adults and children (12 years
and older.) Our goal will be to include the same basics
with some kid-friendly twists. Below is the general
“game plan. Other classes for 2008 – February – Dates
TBD and April 5, 12, & 19.
