Renewing Measure M Benefits Costa Mesa! 

Costa Mesa has benefited from $59,997,000 in freeway, street and road and transit projects from Measure M. These projects have: coordinated traffic signals on major arterial roads to improve traffic flow, provided local funding for maintaining local streets and repairing potholes, widened and improved major roads and improved intersections, kept transit fares low for seniors and persons with disabilities, and provided funds for improving city transit services and metrolink. Through Renewed Measure M, Costa Mesa will benefit from an additional $93,588,719 in projects. Renewed Measure M also includes environmental cleanups and taxpayer safeguards and audits.

  • I-5 widened
  • SR-55 improvements
  • 55/73 Connector
  • I-405/55 interchange
  • 17th Street intersection improvement and signals synchronized at Santa Ana/Irvine/Newport/Orange/Tustin
  • Connected new freeway to Avenue of the Arts to provide direct access to the central South Coast Metro Business Complex and Performing Arts Center
  • Widened Bristol to a six-lane major arterial from SR-73 to Red Hill and made additional improvements at Bristol/Santa Ana/ Red Hill and synchronized signals
  • Coordinated traffic signals along Victoria/Hamilton and 25 signals within Costa Mesa concurrent with Santa Ana signal coordination improvements
  • Connected proposed bicycle trails on east and west portions of Fairview Park with the construction of a bicycle bridge over Placentia
  • Widened Fairview and improved intersections at Adams/Baker/I-405
  • Connected the Santa Ana River Trail by means of a bicycle bridge over the Greenville-Banning Channel at the end of Gisler
  • Widened Harbor and improved intersections at Victoria/Adams/Baker/South Coast/ Gisler/I-405, as well as synchronized signals
  • Added an auxiliary lane on northbound Newport extending from 17th to 19th Streets and southbound Newport from Harbor to 17th Street
  • Added a fourth north and southbound lane on Newport at 19th Street to the SR-55 Freeway and improved intersections at Victoria/Bristol/17th
  • Added partial interchange via a freeway connector from northbound SR-73 to southbound SR-55
