Costa Mesa, California - The Costa Mesa City Council is currently seeking interested individuals from the community to serve on the following Council Committees:
- Child Care and Youth Services Committee - The goals and objectives of this committee include making recommendations to City Council with regard to children and youth issues.
- Cultural Arts Committee - This Cultural Arts Committee works to promote the City slogan "Costa Mesa City of the Arts". The Committee has started a Youth Gallery in City Hall and maintains a directory of local artists. The Committee is also working on finding gallery space for local artists.
- Fairview Park Friend/Fundraising Committee - The goals of the Fairview Park "Friends" Committee are to promote interest, support, and development of the adopted Master Plan for Fairview Park through "friend and fundraising" efforts, as well as to make recommendations to City Council. This ad hoc Committee has established two annual events, as well as Park tours and other activities. The Committee meets monthly or on an as-needed basis.
- Historic Preservation Committee - This committee serves as an advisory body to Council; provides ideas, direction, and input on programs to staff and Council; networks with potential sponsors; explores grant programs; and formulates educational events and activities.
- Investment Oversight Committee - This Committee reviews the City's and Redevelopment Agency's portfolio and investment strategies for compliance with the City's and Agency's adopted Investment Policies. The role of the Committee is as an advisory body to the City Treasurer. The Committee meets on a quarterly basis. One (1) vacancy exists, and individuals interested in serving shall either be residents of or conduct business within the City, and have a background that includes experience in securities trading, financial planning, or banking.
- Redevelopment and Residential Rehabilitation (3R) Committee - The purpose of this Committee is to promote community understanding of, and involvement in, the redevelopment of both housing throughout the City and commercial properties within the redevelopment area. The committee serves as an Advisory Board to both the Redevelopment Agency and the City Council on housing-related and neighborhood issues. Committee Members provide input on the eligible uses of Community Development Block Grant, HOME, and Redevelopment Agency funds.
Application Process - Individuals interested in serving on any of the above committees are encouraged to request and complete a "Committee Interest Form" from the City Clerk's Office or from the City's website at www.ci.costa-mesa.ca.us or submit a letter of interest to the City Council.
