Ensuring Safe Communities
Neighborhood safety continues to be one of my top priorities. Whether it be increasing bike patrols on our multipurpose trail systems or better management of our county parks, training officers and code enforcement for better community policing, planning for and preventing wildfires and increasing earthquake safety, reducing gang activity, preventing human trafficking or unlawful unpermitted cannabis dispensaries and abusive fraudulent sober living home operations, I have the skills and knowledge to partner with our public safety teams to proactively improve community safety.

Under my leadership, Costa Mesa invested in public safety by building a new fire station, modernizing equipment, technology, vehicles, motorbikes and fire apparatus, offering firefighter based paramedic services, and by investing in after school and youth programs, defending a sober-living home ordinance in numerous federal court cases as well as opening a shelter in partnership with Newport Beach to provide shelter and supportive services for people experiencing homelessness.
